About Us Closing the NASDAQ Stock Exchange — A Once-In-A-Lifetime Opportunity For NovaPro Nurses During National Nurses Week

From a front-and-center spot on the Plaza of Good Morning America to a sweet thank you from Mrs. Fields Cookies — NovaPro Staffing is always looking to give our nurses recognition in a BIG way during Nurses Week. This year, the event was one that will truly be hard to out do — ringing the NASDAQ Stock Exchange closing bell.

On Friday, May 8, 2009, a special few of NovaPro nurses, who were on assignment in the New York area, joined the Company’s Chief Nursing Officer, Franklin Shaffer, EdD, RN, FAAN, for a closing ceremony and tribute to nurses that was unlike any we’ve seen before.

The tribute began with an endearing speech from the Managing Director of the Corporate Client Group at the NASDAQ stock exchange, Don Johnson, an RN and alumni of the University of Virginia School of Nursing. Following Mr. Johnson was Dr. Franklin Shaffer, who took time to recognize the tireless efforts and countless contributions of our country’s nurses. The closing remarks were made by a real advocate for the nursing profession, Dorrie Fontaine, RN, PhD, FAAN, Sadie Heath Cabaniss Professor of Nursing and Dean of the University of Virginia School of Nursing. Ms. Fontaine stressed the importance of combating the nursing shortage and strengthening the future workforce.

All of this led to the dramatic and celebratory "ringing of the bell." At which time all of NovaPro’s nurses took their place on the podium to give a big cheer for nurses everywhere and a job well done.

Of course, as grand and empowering as all this was… the entire day was brought to new heights –literally–when tributary videos played seven stories above Times Square on the NASDAQ MarketSite Tower, the world’s largest stationary video screen.

A very special thank you goes to all of the nurses from NovaPro who made this entire event so much more personal:
